River Information
Flowing from beneath Camanche Dam, the Mokelumne is a year-round
fishery that hosts wild Rainbow Trout and runs of Steelhead. The
resident Trout fishing can be good virtually all year with some
reaching 20+ inches. Spring and summer bring opportunities to fish
dry flies, bringing fish to the surface to slurp down your fly.
This river is also the Central Valley's "sleeper" with its ever-improving
run of winter and spring Steelhead (3 - 6 pounds.) The river is
open from Jan. 1st thru the end of March
and from the last Saturday in May until October
15th.
Floating is the best way
to fish this stretch of the river. They have recently rebuilt the
fish hatchery there which is today a 'state of the art' facility.
