Martis Creek Reservoir
Martis has got a serious
weed problem at the southwest end of the lake where Martis Creek
flows in. It has lots of small food fish in the lake so streamers
are one of the best choices. Check with the Truckee
River Outfitters for current info.

Lake Information
Take hwy 267 south out of down town Truckee 2.5 miles to get to
Martis Creek Reservoir. The turn off is just past the airport and
the campground is about a mile back. There is a dirt road down to
the south end of the lake for launching float tubes, pontoon boat
and prams. There are no motors allow on the little 7 acre lake and
it is catch and release and barbless only. Martis Creek flows into
the south end of the lake where there is a shallow weedy delta and
the deeper open water is at the north end toward the dam. The lake
is famous for it's great hatches of callibaetis mayflies, damsel
flies and large blood midges. There are also several different small
food fish in the lake making streamer fish very popular. This lake
is on the 'top 10 list' of CA fly fishing trout lakes.

for stripping nymphs under water. Use 6' 2x leaders for stripping
