This is a very good fly
fishing lake with enough depth and at a high elevation to stay fairly
cool all summer. Look for some callibaetis mayflies in the
afternoons. Cast small nymphs to cruising fish along the shore.

Lake Information
This small 53 acre lakes is at 5850 feet elevation so it gets started
a little later than some. Fishing is good at ice out and then again
from about mid-June to mid-July. It is again good in the Fall. It
is just inside the northern entrance of the Lassen Volcanic National
Park at the intersection of hwy 44 and 89. The lake is barbless
and catch and release only with a very good population of wild Rainbow
and Brown trout. No motors are allowed. It is famous for it's mid-day
Callibaetis mayfly hatches and the 'motor-boat caddis' in the evenings.
You can edge wade the lake stalking cruiser. a float tube, pontoon
boat, canoe or pram is the ticket for fishing the hatches. It is
feed by Manzanita Creek which also keeps it fresh all summer. There
is also a very large campground at the lake with 179 sites. The
park has a small store for basic supplies very near by too.
