Lake Information
Crowley has two seasons. It first opens on the last Saturday in
April till July 31 with no special regs so bait is legal. Then it
has a second season that is artificial only and barbless hooks from
August 1st to October 31st. Early season fly fishers in float tubes
usually fish the north end where the Owens river flow into the lake.
Lots of shallow water here so it is not as bad for tubers with the
boaters staying away. The lake has a good population of Sacramento
Perch which is the favorite food for the big trout. Fall is a famous
time to fish here.
August/September are prime
times down there around McGee Bay. Fish are very hot. Most use wooly
buggers on a sinking line or midges under and indicator.
