Abel

Abel has a reputation for making one of the most durable fully machined fly reels in the world. They are built to last dozens of lifetimes with a fit and finish that has to be seen to believe. All reels are available in your choice of a high gloss Black Coral, matte non-reflective Guide's finish, platinum or gold. Abel now has special fish prints which set their reels even further apart from the competition. They are made in California.

Echo

The ECHO composite large arbor reel is manufactured in Denmark to rigid quality standards by one of Europe's premier reel makers. The large arbor design picks up line faster than standard reels and includes stainless steel and anodized components to help make it impervious to the harsh conditions found in rivers and oceans. The composite material used in the spool and body has an exceptional weight to strength ratio and includes graphite fibers to help resist impact better than metal reels. Hardy, USA

This is the most famous old world fly reel maker that has produced great products for over a century. Located in Alnwick, England.  Hardy continues to be a strong player in the fly reel market with their old reels and new ones as well. Hardy has fly reels that are classics for trout, salmon and steelhead plus large classic Spey reels. Bill Kiene has been selling Hardy fly reels sense 1965.

Hatch

These newly designed fly reels are produced in Vista, California and are among the best in the world. This is a small company making very high quality fly reels that you will not see in every fly shop or in box stores. Hatch will only be available in very select fly shop around the country. We feel lucky to have been chosen by them to be a dealer of their very fine reels. Take a look at their web site but seeing the reels in person is what sells them instantly.

G. Loomis

G. Loomis Reels - In the old days, even the finest fly anglers thought of their reels as little more than a line holder. Not to say they didn't appreciate the craftsmanship of a finely machined fly reel, they just felt the skills for fighting fish on a fly rod were with the fisherman, not the workings of a reel. Their main requirement of a reel was simplicity. Their new 'East Fork' fly reels are drop cold forged and then machined.

Sage

Our 2500 Series lightweight, large-arbor reels feature a unique, offset 3:1 gear reduction drag system and numbered, repeatable adjustment knob for consistent operation in all conditions. Self-lubricating drive gears and sealed graphite drag washers mean 2500 Series reels are maintenance free and unaffected by sand, dunkings or blistering runs. These reels are made from hard-anodized, aerospace-grade aluminum and are approximately 20% lighter than equivalent size 3000D reels.

These simple fully machined fly reels are produced in California and are sold in fly shop all over the United States. They are very affordable which makes them a leader in the mid-priced fly reel market. All parts are either 6061T machined and anodized alloy or stainless steel.

TFO

Temple Fork Outfitters has a full line of affordable fly reels and extra spools. They have entry level trout reels starting at $49.00.  They have great mid-size reels for heavy fresh water and light salt water applications. Archuleta's Reel Works was established in 1984 in Santa Rosa, California from a need for quality professional repair work on broken or neglected fishing reels. I have been fishing all my life and have been repairing and maintaining my own reels and those of my friends for many years. I graduated from San Jose State College with a B.S. in Industrial Education, and my career as a prototype machinist for a large company enabled me to manufacture reel parts that were no longer available. What began as a hobby became a part time small business. Since I am a devout fly fisherman, I decided to specialize in fly reels only and now do repair work for many fly shops and individuals throughout the world. Having recently retired from my full time job, I have relocated to Grants Pass, Oregon, and am devoting all my time to the reel business.

Drop off your broken fly reel at Kiene's Fly Shop

If your reel needs help or just service drop it by the shop and we will get it fix for you. In many cases if we can't fix it ourselves we can send it to the factory that produced it. In some cases it can be under a warranty and there will only be shipping/handling charges. If it is an older reel we can send it to Bill Archuleta's Reel Works for repair.
