Fifty years ago I decided to dye my own feathers, as the colors
desired were not available. Of course at that time more trout fishing
was needed in my life so I moved to northern California and that
filled the ticket. All of my friends wanted colors like summer duck,
rust, burnt orange, leech brown, dark cinnamon and many other colors.
I wasn't selling them then and to get those colors was quite expensive.
that is when I decided to start J Fair's Hand Tied Flies and Supplies,
now known as Eagle Fly Fishing.
Hareline Dubbin, Inc. manufactures and distributes some of the worlds
finest fly tying materials available in today's market.
Although I always use the same basic foam design I decided to call
the collection of these various bugs my "Gurgler Series", created
to target specific species. Along with the Standard and Saltwater
versions, the "Gurgler Series" includes: a pattern for northern
pike, barracuda, a Swimming Mouse pattern for trout, a Swimming
Rat pattern for large mouth bass, and a Pink Polliwog pattern for
silver salmon. Needless to say, the excitement never ends as a I
hear of additional species caught on my newly designed top water
bug.

Many factors determine the vulnerability of the trout during a hatch
on a river, lake or stream. Among the most discussed are exact size
and color of the natural insects. Other criteria to consider are
presentation, masking human odors, and the use of natural materials.
At Nature's Spirit, they have taken as many of the above aspects
as possible and incorporated them into the finest materials available.
The Nature's Spirit product line was designed to protect the environment

If you are a fly tyer, you may be familiar with Wapsi. Established

From the mid 1960’s until 1989 Henry Hoffman of Warrenton, Oregon
devoted his life to producing the best dry fly hackle in the world.
His primary motivation was an all-consuming, life-long love of fishing.
As an offshoot to this intense interest in fishing Henry also learned
to tie flies, often by taking apart lost flies he found on the stream
bank while out fishing. Fortunately (for himself and the world)
Henry was born into the right situation. His parents had a small
meat chicken breeding operation in California, so Henry grew up
learning the basics of breeder selection and poultry husbandry.
After a stint in the military, Henry settled in Oregon and made
his living tying fishing flies commercially, predominantly dry flies.
