Default Took my grandsons out casting today....

My grandsons, the Wheeler boys, are both taller than I am and are both athletes so teaching them to fly cast today was a piece of cake.

We went to Brown's Ravine on Folsom Lake which is very full right now, flooded up into the trees.

We will be hitting some bass ponds first then we will probably go up Hwy 50 to the Silver Fork of the American River.

We have been exposing them to the outdoors with clay bird shooting and then some day we will go bird hunting.

They are riding dirt bikes now too.

We have been camping and RVing.

Being a grampa is pretty cool........

That is great Bill! My dad and mom used to take us all over the place to go fishing. One of my great memories was when I was about 5 or 6 was fishing with the family at Donner Lake and the hatchery truck pulled up and dumped tons of fish in right in front of us!! Woohoo. Same thing happened this year at Pyramid and fishing was off the hook. Well just rambling, but I would suggest you hang out at Prosser campground this summer. Access to all the Truckee and Little Truckee rivers plus there is a great little single track motocross area just across 89. If the grandkids aren't into single track yet, there are tons of fire roads that will take you up around Independence Lake and Henness Pass Road. There is also good small bass fishing at Prosser, so many options for a retired guy. I think you could take your dune buggy up there to keep up with the kids..

Love the shot with the casting platform. Shades of Robert Traver's Frenchman's Pond.

I didn't realize those could be used as casting platforms. What a difference a couple of years makes.
