    Default Berryessa View

No fishing this week but I did hike and get a good view of Lake Berryessa. Spring is busting loose and this is about as green as California gets. Makes me want to do some bass fishing. Too bad I don't have a bass boat. Excellent time of year to get a nasty case of poison oak.

Some nice shadows on the water and not a boat in sight.

    A monstrous grasshopper.

Rugged hills above the lake and nobody living in there. Berryessa Peak is on the left. Used to be everyone thought it was the highest point in Yolo County but it turns out Little Blue Ridge is higher.

My dog checking out the view. You can see the trail on the spine of the ridge. Much of the area in the foreground burned in 2015. It also burned back in about 1989 so this is the second time in my memory it has burned. The 1989 burn left some trees but the 2015 burn pretty much got everything in it path.

    Wonderful photos John......

I think April is a good time for the bass to be up in the shallows.

One of my friends gave me his feelings on spring bass on Lake Berryessa:

"Mid April to the end of May. Fished today, tough bite, fish are on the pre spawn."
